Health Check 2015

I.  Weight gain during the holidays?
     One pound

II. My personal exercise plan.
Exercise is a necessity for every normal body.  Which exercises depends on the particular needs of your body, and sometimes your age.  I have no weight to lose so normal walking and stretching must be regular for me.  If you have arthritis or structure problems with hands, feet or limbs, exercise directed to those areas is a necessity.

III.  More fruits and vegetables in my diet.
Every person needs a larger portion of fruits and vegetables compared to proteins and carbohydrates.  Any health problems you already have will influence your choices of food.  Some good choices:
       Carrots                            Apples
       Brown rice                       Oranges
       Spinach                           Blue berries
        Broccoli                           Cherries
        Sweet potatoes                Melons
        Dark leafy greens              Grapes
         Tomatoes                         Bananas
Of course, there are many more, but these are the most commonly available.

Fun is important to our minds and bodies.  This will vary greatly.  For a simple person like me, it does not take a blowout party to have fun.
Breakfast with my best friends group
        Golf with my husband.
Having my international group for dinner.
        Extended family lunch occasionally.
Singing and worship at my church
        Growing plants in the summer.
Having my grandson for the weekend

You see, my fun may be boring to some people, but it makes me very happy.  Happiness it very important for our minds and body health.  The number of bad things, stress and unhappiness does to us is serious.

Share your health plan with us for 2015.

Be a Patriot; Lose Weight

Have you been listening to the news lately?  All healthcare costs are going up!  One of the biggest drivers for healthcare costs is obesity.  Matters not if you are obese, you have to pay for everyone who is overweight.  Does not sound fair does it?  Our National costs for health, food and all merchandize you purchase is determined by the demand for the product.  If you are healthy, you need little medication or trips to your doctor's office.  A person who is obese may need blood pressure meds, diabetic supplies or medical help for weight loss.  All of these would be ongoing without good success with the weight loss.  Persons who lose to a normal weight usually no longer need their blood pressure medicine and may never develop diabetes.  We all need to support friends and family who are trying to lose weight and attain a healthy life.  With the status of healthcare costs in our country, I consider you a patriot if you work at a healthy lifestyle be it weight losseating right, exercise routine, balancing work and rest or whatever you are doing.  If I left out something you are doing, please tell me about it.
I am amazed at the young adults that are heavy or obese.  These are supposed to be the up to date,  on the go, informed part of our population.  Have they not heard?  Every 10 pounds extra weight they are carrying around (many 3 or 4 times 10) puts them at risk for 4 or 5 of the deadliest diseases of our century.  You  most likely will miss your child's high school graduation if you continue to carry the weight and add the extra 5 pounds commonly gained each year of adulthood without a lifestyle change.  We can carelessly be our own worst enemy with fast food and overeating.  I say prayers for some of my friends because I lost one of my dearest friends to cancer.  Hers was a genetic inheritance, but she is gone nevertheless.  Some of these dear people have 2 or 3 small children.  These children need their parents to grow old with them!
Doom is not my favorite theme for blogging.  Hope some folks are listening though.

My Healthy Living Group met for one semester.  Much fellowship and sharing was experienced.  I did learn that not a large crowd of people are interested in healthy living.  However, most of our group was willing to practice living healthy with exercise and food choices.  We also learned that you must work slowly and know your limits with exercise.  Nothing is your limit if you work up to it slowly.
Weather in my state is not conducive to outdoor activity at present.  Do not let unfriendly weather make you forget to get outside when it clears.  Fresh air and the outdoors are so good for so many parts of our bodies we want to get out there as soon as possible.  I can't wait until spring!
Good health to you.  joyduf

The new group a friend and I are forming will have several activities.  We have 8 local members so far and will have our first formal meeting Sept. 11, 2012.  We will calculate BMI for each person and they will take responsibility for their weight and total body health.  We will share exercises for particular problems of each person and present information for a healthy lifestyle at each meeting.  No one's personal information will be shared in the group unless they share it.  Anyone wishing to join the group may do so on this blog site.
We need your preferred name or blog name, your gender and age.  You can go to an Ezine Articles site and calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) so that you will know if you are overweight or under weight.  That will give you the number for your goal in the program.  We will give good health information in our blog here on total lifestyle health.  We will be using parts of "Living Temple or Rundown Shack." (Trafford.com/06-2391) Some of that health advice is outdated and we will update that in our healthy lifestyle presentations.
To your good health,joyduf

I am gathering  material for a group to be started locally in September.  The goal is to get a healthy body and then live a healthy life.  If you have an example you would like to share, I will welcome it.  We will be sharing healthy eating habits, walking and exercising for body strength.  All of these are necessary to maintain good health for a longer life.  We will be learning all the great benefits of this regimen, especially the preventive results gained by it.  I will be sharing some of the group's successes along the way.

Updated medical information on reports made in my book, "Living Temple or Rundown Shack," will be shared.  Much work to document all these is in store for me by September.

Come along with us if you wish, Joyduf

Good News

I have been off-line most of the last 6 months.  My house burned from a lightening strike.  We have been in a recovery mode since that event.
My husband discovered in recent recovery from surgery that our old formula still works.  Previously, I suggested in one of my blogs that you can lose the weight you want without purchasing a diet, provided you are not receiving meds that cause you to gain weight.  Big portions are the norm in the USA in most restaurants and large gatherings.  If you want to lose weight, eat 1/3 of the food served to you.  Eat some of each healthy food, but that clean plate that is encouraged will put extra pounds on you.  If you order unhealthy food, you must change your order.  Fried meat and potatoes are lethal.  Find healthy green vegetables and fruits that you like to eat, and eat small portions of meats.  Do NOT go hungry.  A fruit or nut snack between meals is much better than heavy eating at mealtime.
I would love to hear from you if you try my 1/3 way to lose weight.  Best of health to you...
